Nick Salisbury is appointed charity Chair of Trustees at Oasis Community Housing, a UK charity for people facing homelessness.

Nick comes to the role with a decade of Board experience in the housing and not-for-profit sectors, including serving as Oasis Community Housing’s Deputy Chair of Trustees since 2017.  He succeeds Dr Caroline Wroe, who was the charity’s Chair for four years.

Nick spent more than 30 years as a senior banker with Barclays before leaving the sector to use his knowledge and business acumen for a wider social benefit. Most recently, this has involved being part of a partnership led by social impact investment company Resonance, which is providing 50 homes to those sleeping rough on London’s streets.

Commenting on his new role as Oasis Community Housing’s Chair of Trustees, Nick Salisbury said: “I am delighted to have been selected as Oasis Community Housing’s Chair.

“Having worked with the charity as trustee for the past eight years, I’ve seen first-hand the tireless efforts of its staff, the genuine care for the people they support, and the real and positive difference that makes to the thousands of people they work with through drop-ins and supported accommodation each year.

“I’m looking forward to leading the Board in actively contributing to the homelessness charity’s life-changing work – as we emerge from an unprecedented time of challenge, and when their efforts have never mattered more.”

The new charity Chair of Trustees will be key to motivating the board for Oasis Community Housing, which is part of the wider Oasis Charitable Trust family of youth, international development and education charities. Nick is also a Trustee for the Oasis Charitable Trust – a top 30 UK charity – providing a valuable link between the two Boards.

David Smith, Chief Executive of Oasis Community Housing, said: “We are delighted to appoint Nick as the new Chair of our Board – and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Caroline for her dedication and strategic leadership.

“Following this past year where the true scale of the homelessness crisis has been exposed by the pandemic, Nick’s business acumen, knowledge of the property market, and adept risk management skills are invaluable as the charity moves forward in trying to support more people than ever who are facing homelessness.”
