Mile in Their Shoes Altogether
25 March 2022
The Cycle Hub, Ouseburn
“At our drop in, one of the hardest parts is watching them walk out of the door and not knowing where they will sleep and if they will be ok!” Dave Cawley, project lead Sunderland Basis
Every day people experiencing homelessness walk miles. They walk to access support, to find food, to keep warm or simply to keep safe. As a charity we know what a difference it makes to be that place of shelter and safety. Where people can slow down and take a breath. Our Mile in Their Shoes challenge encourages people to walk a mile a day during Lent, raising the funds, and the vital awareness needed to bring hope to all those walking daily on the streets.
Get involved
At the halfway point of this 40 day challenge we are coming together for a group well-being walk around Newcastle’s stunning Quayside. With some of our fantastic staff on hand to share stories of struggle but also hope from our projects.
Meeting at The Cycle Hub our walk will take us along the Newcastle Quayside, over the Swing Bridge into Gateshead, past the Sage and back over the Millennium Bridge before heading back to the Cycle Hub for networking and refreshments.
The event is open to all, it is free to attend and includes a light lunch and soft drinks. Places are limited so click the link to sign up to avoid disappointment.
