Homelessness Sunday is a day dedicated to raising awareness and taking action to end the cycle of homelessness.

On Sunday, 8th October, Oasis Community Housing, in partnership with churches across the UK, is calling on individuals and communities to come together and make a difference.

This year we have prepared a service plan and gathered prayers from homelessness projects that you and your church can use.

The call for justice

The Bible calls for us all to “Speak up for the people who have no voice. Speak out for justice! Stand up for the poor and destitute!” (Proverbs 31:9).

Phil Conn, Director of Chaplaincy at Oasis Community Housing, rightly reminds us that: “we cannot ignore homelessness. Justice demands our attention, and we must strive to end homelessness.”

Make a difference

This Homelessness Sunday we invite you to take a moment to pause and reflect on how you can make a difference in the lives of those facing homelessness. Whether as an individual or as part of a church community, here are some ways you can get involved:

  • Engage with the resources: Our short film shares the stories individuals facing homelessness, while the service plan provides guidance on how to create a meaningful Homelessness Sunday service. Request these resources by filling out our enquiry form or contacting Jo Armstrong.
  • Raise awareness: Use your voice to spread awareness about Homelessness Sunday within your community. Share our resources, including the short film, through your social media channels, church bulletins, or newsletters. Encourage others to join the cause and contribute their time and resources to address homelessness
  • Volunteer: Get in touch to find out how you can get involved with Oasis Community Housing. Offer your time, skills, or resources to support our mission
  • Become a Regular Giver: Cornerstone givers provide a strong foundation to this vital work and help us bring consistent and reliable support to those who need it most.

This Homelessness Sunday, let us remember the call for justice, recognise the image of God in every individual, and make a difference in the lives of those facing homelessness.

Join us on Homelessness Sunday, 8th October, and let us come together to make a lasting impact in our communities.
